Aptitude and Skills

This section involves 35 multiple-choice questions, which has to be answered in 60 minutes. This section of the test measures your ability to understand and comprehend an argument, to examine information, to solve problems, and to infer from the composite data presented. The aptitude and skills section typically becomes overwhelming as it aims to measure a few skills of reasoning such as analyzing related data from the factual information, determining errors etc.

Scientific Knowledge and Applications

This section consists of 27 Multiple choice section questions which are designed to test candidates’ ability to apply scientific knowledge, within a span of 30 minutes that students should have acquired from school science and mathematics by the age of 16.
Specifically, the questions in this section are framed on high school subjects’ content such as Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics because the knowledge in these subjects are imperative for a medical student. Scientific Knowledge and Applications section not only involves measuring your strength in conceptual knowledge but also tests your cognition to apply the same in practical situations.

Writing Task

The writing task on the BMAT candidates must choose one essay question from a choice of three. Candidates are assessed on how they select, order and develop their ideas, plus their ability to convey those ideas clearly and effectively in writing in 30 minutes. You need to exhibit the extend up to which you can express your ideas intelligibly through a clear writing. This section should not be neglected as a normal essay section as universities which you apply through the UCAS portal receives your response to the writing task. It will utilized by the universities to measure your skills on various factors viz the suitability of your opinion and representation of the topic, standard written English conventions, structure, coherence and so on.It is important to practice this section with the auto-correct option turned off as the portal on which you attempt this section does not have an auto-spell check or grammar-check option. Make sure you plan your time effectively in this section to proofread before you submit.
